Despite the Indian telecom embargo that derailed the momentum for the wireless industry in Q2 of 2010, the global base transmitting station (BTS) transceiver (TRx) market was on track to hit a record year in unit shipments. BTS transceiver units for the first half of 2010 achieved 56.8% of our projected forecast for 2010, indicating that despite the embargo that the industry was on it way to another growth year, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research titled ?Global BTS Transceiver Market Analysis, 1st Edition, 1H2010.?
?The TRx shipment volumes at the halfway point in 2010 were weaker than expected for the Chinese OEMs but both Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks posted surprisingly strong results. More surprising were the indicators that the LTE market was tracking ahead of our projections by 20% and that GSM unit volumes were well above our projections with 63% of our forecast achieved at the midpoint,? says founder and President, Earl Lum.
The report provides a unique perspective on the global shipments and demand for TRx equipment covering all air interface standards and frequencies and major OEMs including Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, and ZTE.
?Nokia Siemens Networks was the overall leader in total TRx unit shipments as well as for GSM shipments. Ericsson was the top supplier for both W-CDMA and next generation LTE shipments while ZTE captured the top positions for CDMA and TD-SCDMA,? says Lum.
The top suppliers by overall base station transceiver shipments as well as by air interface standards for 1H2010 were:
Overall #1 TRx Supplier:????????????????Nokia Siemens Networks
Overall #1 GSM TRx Supplier:????????Nokia Siemens Networks
Overall #1 W-CDMA TRx Supplier:????Ericsson
