MLOVE Confestival Disrupts the Perception of What a Tech Conference Should Be: Inspiring, Innovative and Thought Provoking

Berlin (PRWEB) July 8, 2010

(http://www.mlove.com) - The inaugural MLOVE Confestival finished last week and rave reviews have come in. Held in a 19th century castle near Berlin, over 150 delegates resonated with the conclusion that: mobile will change our future in ways we haven?t yet dreamt of and the MLOVE Confestival was the closest yet they?d got to exploring them.

The reports, blogs and twitter posts all share a similar enthusiasm for the new collaborative formats, the speakers and interactive sessions.

Kazi Islam (CEO of Grameenphone IT) reminded us that ?we in this room are in the top 0.001% of educated, affluent, consumers in the world? said. He painted a dramatic picture of how the impact of mobile access in developing nations, like Bangladesh, shifted when mobiles enabled banking services, creating opportunities to take part both in communication and international trade.

Aape Pohjavirta (CEO, ympyra) from Finland, spoke passionately about a future of mobile education. He reminded us that developed nations have to look beyond "callbackringtonegames" to address the 1 billion people worldwide who receive insufficient, or no, schooling and tuition.

Among a plethora of talented and engaging speakers, J?r?me Nadel, CMO of Sagem, introduced the brand-new solar-powered Puma Phone, demonstrating a positive synergy between a brand and a lifestyle product.

In a candid fireside chat, Laura Merling, VP at Alcatel-Lucent discussed how bravery is key to innovating and managing relationships with mobile operators.

Active, collaborative dialogue among all attendees is central to the MLOVE approach. Jonathan MacDonald (this fluid world) facilitated an "Open Space" session, asking ?How will Mobile change your Future??, a process that led to deeper discussions about issues emerging within the mobile economy.

These findings laid the groundwork for an advanced session called "Future Cubes". A large space was converted into custom-designed gallery and meeting areas, where groups dove deep into the impact of mobile on different segments, grappling with hard-to-solve problems.

"The MLOVE Confestival was a great success. It was immensely satisfying to see our vision populated with such leading lights, who took full advantage of the opportunities presented. The cross-pollination of shared experiences led to surprising and inspiring sessions and we are already planning MLOVE11," said MLOVE Confestival Director Peter Giblin.

The evening highlights included an interactive giant video projection, one of the largest of its kind in the world, created by Roman Beranek and his Projektil.ch crew specifically for the MLOVE Confestival. The whole castle becomes augmented; here is the teaser: http://vimeo.com/12899347 . ?That?s one of the most amazing things I?ve seen in 30 years? said Alan Moore (SMLXL) who also spoke at the event.

Other speakers included Marc Mielau (BMW), Nick Heller (Google), Mark Curtis (Flirtomatic), Amish Patel (Microsoft), Richard Titus (AND), Beverly Jackson (Grammy?s), Michael Schade (Fishlabs), Shaherose Charania (women 2.0), Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Allison Mooney (Omnicom), Michael von Roeder (iconmobile), Roman Weissh?upl (TrendOne), Dawn Danby (Autodesk), Holger Meyer (3D), Redg Snodgrass (Alcatel Lucent), Andrew J Scott (Rummble), Ren? Bellack (OutThere Media), Christopher Billich, music Performers Rocky & Balls and finally, Toni Neidhardt, fifteen year old daughter of MLOVE founder Harald, who gave a truly human reflection on the way we should use our mobile lives; an eye opening to all.

?When Peter and I set out to curate this first MLOVE Confestival, we dreamed about a new format of inspiration and networking with the leading disruptors in business and particularly the mobile industry. We are grateful for the overwhelmingly positive feedback and support which has begun to come in for future events? said Harald Neidhardt, founder of MLOVE.

All participants found themselves in an atmosphere that was utterly unlike any traditional conference and took away learnings, passion and inspiration as a consequence.

MLOVE will be back in 2011 with MLOVE11.

MLOVE10 Feedback

"We are really proud, that we had the chance to support the brilliant MLOVE Confestival. It feels great to be part of the MLOVE community. The three days at the Beesenstedt castle were quite inspiring and brought fascinating ideas and discussions as well as sustainable new encounters. The results will certainly contribute to the future work for all of us.?

Stephanie Janz, Sachar Kriwoj and Benjamin Menzel of E-Plus Group (BASE), major sponsor MLOVE Confestival.

"The Open Space and Future Cube experience, where speakers and attendee?s collaborated together to look at for example, Justice, Wealth Distribution, Emerging Markets, Media, was part of the special part of this journey of discovery for us all. So we were actively working together to look at problems and trying to discover/design solutions," Alan Moore author and founder of the engagement communication consultancy SMLXL.

"When Peter Giblin and Harald Neidhardt set out on their journey to create the MLOVE concept, there was one key driving factor: Putting the people back into the center of everything. I never quite experienced it as intense, as enriching as during the MLOVE days. Both, for work and for my personal life. MLOVE has been truly interdisciplinary, crazy, funny, encouraging, motivating, eye-opening and passionate for me," Ralf Rottmann, CTO & Founder, GrandCentrix GmbH.

"The MLOVE Confestival has been a truly unique event in the mobile industry. It showed that a great atmosphere, amazing speakers and active participation results in great networking opportunities and valuable exchange of knowledge. The international cast of speakers was outstanding!" commented Ragnar Kruse, CEO & Co-Founder of Smaato.
